The MDK Foundation was created to help support an environment where all youth have positive self-esteem, can contribute to society and have the skills to help others do the same. MDK Foundation History
On April 1, 2021, Greg Smith spearheaded the establishment of the 501(c)(3) organization. It’s important to note that this foundation operates independent of mandatory monetary contributions from its membership base; instead, it relies on public donations for sustainability and growth.

Greg Smith
Board Member
Greg co-founded the MDK Foundation in 2021 after serving as the Executive Director of the Michigan District of Kiwanis for nearly a decade. A member since 2001, his deep commitment to the Kiwanis Family includes ten years as the Michigan Key Club Administrator. Greg’s extensive background in district-wide operations helps drive MDK’s mission forward, focusing on expanding public awareness and building collaborative partnerships to support youth initiatives statewide.
Jennifer Green
President
Jennifer serves as President of the MDK Foundation Board. She joined Kiwanis in 2019 and previously served as President of the South Haven club. Professionally, Jennifer is an out-of-school time administrator for a youth development non-profit, overseeing academic and summer programs across two counties. Her professional expertise in youth development aligns seamlessly with MDK’s core mission to support leadership, wellness, and educational initiatives for children throughout the Michigan District.
Benjamin C. “Ben” Robert
Secretary
Ben brings 43 years of Kiwanis dedication and extensive leadership experience to his role as Board Secretary. A former Distinguished Governor of the Michigan District, Ben has served on numerous international committees and regional civic boards, including the United Way and Boy Scouts. Now retired from a professional career in automotive procurement, he leverages his governance expertise to expand MDK’s public funding opportunities for youth education, health, and leadership.
Roger “Mike” Raham
Treasurer
Mike brings over 25 years of financial expertise and community dedication to his role as Board Treasurer. A certified public accountant and retired accounting firm partner, he has long served as President and Treasurer for the Kiwanis Club of Saline. Mike’s primary focus for the MDK Foundation is building strategic corporate and philanthropic collaborations, expanding public donor awareness to sustainably fund high-impact youth service projects across the entire Michigan District.
Sarah Hayden
Board Member
Sarah serves as the Marketing Director for the Michigan District of Kiwanis and President of the Macomb club. A marketing graduate with a professional background in sales and accounting, Sarah joined Kiwanis in 2021 inspired by the community’s giving spirit. As a personal survivor of a rare spinal medical challenge, she brings profound resilience and a sharp marketing toolkit to MDK, aiming to increase organizational visibility and build powerful cross-club collaborations.
Eric Stezowski
Board Member
Eric is a Limited License Psychologist specializing in trauma, bringing a unique perspective from his 22-year career as a firefighter, paramedic, and law enforcement officer. An active Kiwanis leader and current Lt. Governor, Eric is passionate about building tomorrow’s leaders. His involvement with the MDK Foundation centers on supporting youth leadership development programs and law enforcement academy partnerships, ensuring young people have the skills to thrive and contribute to society.
