Building a School of Readers
About This Campaign
Imagine a world where every child holds the key to unlock their full potential—starting with a book. Literacy is the foundation for all learning, and yet, nearly 2 out of 3 children in the U.S. fail to read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade. This gap has a lifelong impact, affecting everything from academic success to future earning potential.
The “Building a School of Readers” program is your chance to change this narrative. We’re on a mission to enhance literacy for K-3 students by delivering books, essential resources, and programs designed to spark a lifelong love of learning. Research shows that children with access to books at home are 3 times more likely to graduate high school.
Every dollar you donate puts a book in a child’s hands, funds literacy programs, and builds the foundation for a brighter future—brick by brick, book by book. By supporting this campaign, you’re not just giving; you’re investing in a stronger, more educated community.
Why This Matters
📖 Early Literacy is Critical: Studies show that 88% of students who fail to read proficiently by 3rd grade are likely to drop out of high school.
📚 Access to Books is Key: In underserved communities, the ratio of age-appropriate books to children is 1 book for every 300 kids—a gap we must close.
✨ Every Dollar Counts: For every $25 donated, we can provide a child with 5 new books, laying the first bricks of a lifelong learning journey.
Goal
Raise $7,500 to fund literacy programs, distribute books, and support innovative initiatives that empower young readers across Michigan.
